World Blood Donor Day is celebrated annually on 14th June to express gratitude towards the volunteers who come forward to donate blood and save lives.

On this day, donors are appreciated for their acts of kindness. 

Theme for 2023

World Blood Donor Day, 2023, will have the theme “Give Blood, Give Plasma, Share Life, Share Often.”

Some scientific investigations have found a connection between blood donation and a lower risk of heart attacks and blood pressure.

The body will replace the blood volume (plasma) in just 48 hours.

Who should not donate blood? 

According to WHO, you shouldn’t donate blood if :

  1. You have a cold, flu or sore throat, cold sore, or any other infection
  1. If you fail to meet the minimum hemoglobin level for blood donation 
  1. If you are younger than 18 years old, you must meet the minimum age requirements in order to be eligible to donate blood.
  1. If you have a recent piercing or tattoo, you must wait for at least 4 months to become eligible for donating blood.

Under the guidance of Saint Dr Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh Ji Insan, they grabbed 3 world records in the domain of Blood Donation by Dera Sacha Sauda.

The volunteers of Dera Sacha Sauda are recognized as True Blood Pumps by Saint Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh Ji as they are always true to their commitment to saving lives by donating blood.

They are the walking True Blood Pumps as they are ready 24/7 at one call to save someone.

Together they donated 15432 units of blood in a single day and made the Guinness Book of World Record on 7th December 2003. They broke the record themselves by donating 43,732 units of blood in a single day.

As long as you meet the conditions, giving blood is consider safe, and saving a life is a noble act.
