Ankara l The government has banned smoking in crowded public areas and places connected to the public transport system (Ban on Smoking in Turkey) amid growing infection of the coronavirus (Covid-19) in Turkey. Turkey’s Interior Ministry issued a statement informing this. This ban will come into force from Thursday itself.

Earlier an order made it mandatory to wear masks in all public places. But some people remove their masks while smoking, so according to the new order, smoking has been banned in crowded public places in all the provinces of the country.

The ministry said that people would inevitably have to wear masks to control the spread of coronavirus infection in the country. Earlier, Turkish Health Minister Fahretin Koka said that the second wave of corona in the country is at its peak. There have been 2,693 new cases of coronavirus (covid-19) infection in Turkey during the last 24 hours. Turkey has reported the newest cases of corona in one day after April 29. With this, the total number of infected has crossed four lakhs whereas more than 11 thousand people have died due to this epidemic. Significantly, many countries in Europe are experiencing a second wave of corona infection.
