The central government defended the PM Cares Fund in the Supreme Court
In response to a PIL, the government defended the decision to create a PM Cares Fund and said that the Disaster Management Fund is a provision related to the budget under the Disaster Management Act and there is no private contribution to it.

In the Supreme Court, the Central Government has defended the PM Cares Fund. The Center has said that it is not forbidden to deposit other donations in such funds which are related to the disaster at the national and state level.
It was asked in the petition that when there is already NDRF and PM Relief Fund then why there was a need to create a separate CARS fund.
