New Delhi. The Supreme Court on Wednesday ordered the release of Interim bail on interim bail granting huge relief to Republic TV chief editor Arnab Goswami and co-accused in the case of abetment to suicide. A vacation bench of Justice DY Chandrachud and Justice Indira Banerjee, while accepting an appeal against the Bombay High Court of Arnab and the other accused, directed the Maharashtra Police to release all on interim bail.
The court said it would issue factual details of its order later. Till then, the order of release on bail of the accused should be implemented with immediate effect. The bench said in its order that the accused would have to pay a personal bond of Rs 50,000 for release on interim bail. They will also have to cooperate fully in the investigation. The Bombay High Court, while dismissing the habeas corpus petitions of Arnab and others, directed them to file a regular bail petition before the lower court, which they challenged in the apex court.
