NGT clamps down on Firecrackers in Delhi-NCR, bans their Sale & use as Pollution levels Deteriorate

New Delhi. The National Green Tribunal (NGT) on Monday has completely banned the burning of firecrackers in Delhi and the National Capital Region. The NGT gave this order on Monday in view of the severe level of air quality and in its order has also said that in any state of the country where air quality is poor or dangerous level, there will be a ban on burning firecrackers.

The tribunal has today banned the operation of firecrackers in Delhi-NCR till midnight of 30 November in our country. He said that there would be a ban on the sale and use of firecrackers from November 9 to 30 in areas where the air quality index is poor, very poor, and severe, where firecrackers will allow running, however normal or fine.

The NGT says that only green crackers will allow selling in cities where the air quality index level is normal or good this November as compared to November last year. Here, firecrackers will use for only two hours on Deepawali. Apart from this, firecrackers will not allow running on any other day.
