Modi said that India has been supportive of the development work of the United Nations from the beginning. The first chairman of the Economic and Social Council of the UN has been an Indian.
Modi said that the 75th anniversary of the United Nations is an opportunity to evaluate its role and relevance in the current world. India has recently elected a provisional member of the United Nations Security Council. After that, the Prime Minister is addressing a UN session for the first time.
