Taking a big decision regarding the space world, the Narendra Modi government has announced the opening of India’s space sector for students and private companies. Speaking after the Union Cabinet meeting on Wednesday, Union Minister Jitendra Singh said that India’s space sector will be opened to private companies, including students.
The Union Cabinet chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi today approved far-reaching reforms in the space sector with the objective of promoting private sector participation in the entire field of space activities. This decision of the government was called an important step towards transforming India and making the country self-sufficient and technically modern.
Atomic Energy and Space Minister Jitendra Singh said that after the Narendra Modi government came into existence, the programs related to space have increased. There has been an increase in launching and additional launching activities in the last 6 years of Modi government, especially in 2 years. He said that the Indian National Space Promotion and Authority Center (IN-SPACE) will now involve private companies in space activities.
Jitendra Singh said that new methods will be introduced in space under ISRO. Private companies, including students, will now be allowed under the New India space. Jitendra Singh said that the Indian National Space Promotion and Authority (IN-SPACE) has been formed to provide a playground for private companies to use the Indian space structure. It will hand hold, promote and guide private industries in space activities.
Jitendra Singh said that ISRO is the core organization – will play a key role in deciding whether to launch activities or projects or missions, but this new facility has been introduced to fill the gap and fulfill the demand mode.
He said that the Indian National Space Promotion and Authority Center (IN-SPACE) is not a new institution, but its role has now been extended to ISRO. This is a new twist in the field of space. They will complement each other’s work which they will not work on cross purposes.
IN-SPACE to Initially Assist Private Sector
The Indian National Space Promotion and Authority Center will provide equal opportunities for private sector companies. It will give initial assistance to the private sector in space activities through promotion policies and a favorable regulatory environment, promote and guide them.
On the government’s ambitious mission Gaganyaan, Union Minister Jitendra Singh said that it was delayed due to the lockdown caused by Corona, but the mission is now back on track.
